Trustpilot Review Abuse: Our Experience at FITBODY

As the CEO of FITBODY.com®, a family-owned fitness and nutrition business, I never thought I’d be writing this. But after months of fighting fake reviews and misdirected complaints, it’s time to speak up—not just for us, but for every small business owner who’s been through the same thing.

How Scam Sites and Trustpilot Collide

Scam websites use deceptive ads, typo-squatting, and lookalike domains to trick shoppers. When things go wrong, customers often Google “fitody” and are guided by autocorrect or search engines straight to our Trustpilot page, where they vent their frustrations about a business we have zero connection to. It’s a frustrating situation that’s out of our control.

The Problem: Scam Sites and Review Confusion

Recently, we’ve been bombarded with negative reviews on the Trustpilot platform. The catch? Nearly all of them are not from actual FITBODY.com customers. Instead, they’re from frustrated consumers who purchased from scam sites with similar names—like Fitody.com—and never received their orders. These websites are not connected to us in any way, but because of a typo, an autocorrect, or a confusing ad, their customers end up on our review page, venting about issues we have nothing to do with.

What We’ve Done to Fix It

We take real customer service seriously. That’s why, every time one of these reviews appears, we:

  • Search our entire order and support records (always coming up empty).

  • Reply publicly to explain the confusion and invite real dialogue.

  • Contact the reviewer directly, showing evidence they ordered from a different site or that the review is ambiguous and ask for more detail.

  • Flag the review for removal, providing proof it’s not about us.

  • Report the scam sites to Google, ICANN, and the FTC.

  • Flag the review through Trustpilot’s official system and submit detailed evidence.
  • File a report with Google, ICANN, and fraud authorities regarding any sites involved.

When the System Fails

Here’s the problem: Trustpilot refuses to remove these reviews—even when we provide direct proof the reviewer is talking about another business. Their platform forces us to keep these 1-star reviews live, harming our reputation and lowering our search ranking, all while helping scam sites hide their tracks.

We have received boilerplate rejections from Trustpilot, often with the same copy-pasted response, saying “there’s nothing to suggest it’s for another business.” Even when a reviewer says “Fitody.com” by name, the review stays. We can’t opt out. We can’t even have our business removed.

Why This Matters

We are a legitimate, U.S.-based small business with a registered trademark, serving real customers with real results. These reviews are not from our clients. But the system, as it stands, makes it easy for scammers to attack honest businesses and difficult for business owners to defend themselves.

How We’re Fighting Back

  • We’ve created a public Scam Warning Page so our real customers know the difference.

  • We’re documenting every fake review and every step we take, so regulators and authorities can see what’s really happening.

  • We’re inviting our real customers to leave reviews where it matters.

A Call to Action

If you’ve had a positive experience with FITBODY.com, please consider leaving us a review. And if you’re a fellow business owner dealing with the same thing, know that you’re not alone—and you can fight back.

Thank you to our loyal community for supporting us and helping us rise above the noise.
